Want to learn how to make the perfect air fryer tofu? You are in the right place. In this post, I will show you exactly what you need to do, the temperature and the time.

Whether you are a staunch supporter of tofu or whether it is
the first time you are cooking it, one thing is for sure…there is no food that
evokes so much debate.

There are some people that think it was made by the devil
himself…they hate it that much. For others, it is a godsend that is nothing
short of amazing.

Let’s get something straight…tofu is real food. Tofu is a
vegetable, a plant-based food that is processed into a form that you are
familiar with. Put simply, Tofu is soy milk that is coagulated into curds. It
is then pressed into a block.

There is a double standard when it comes to tofu, which when
you consider it, is a little bizarre. People think that tofu looks strange…often
by meat eaters. That’s right…people who eat meat…a dead animal, think that this
plant food is weird.

Meat eaters don’t really consider this. They simply see the
delicious dishes in front of them which, done well, look beautiful. Therefore,
the criticism of tofu is a little rich when, more often than not, they are
describing the raw food.

If you see tofu that has been cooked, it looks delicious.
Whether it has been seared, grilled, baked or even as I will describe, air
fryer tofu, it is very appetising to look at.

It will really make a difference to the taste at the end.

Mistakes people make – tips to make better tofu air fryer

    Cut smaller chunks

To get the maximum taste and flavor from your tofu, it is
better to cut it into small chunks. People have the habit of cutting large
chunks, which is not great to eat. This is especially true of sandwiches; big
chunks will not taste great. Consider slicing thin strips instead, it really
makes a difference.

Buy the right kind of tofu

Tofu comes in a variety of textures that suit different
needs. It can be soft, firm, very firm and extra firm. Make sure you buy the
correct one based on the texture you want. For example, soft tofu will not be
firm to eat nor will it be chewy.

    Consider freezing it

If you want your air fryer tofu to have a denser consistency
and be chewier, put it into the freezer first.

Season and marinate air fryer tofu

If you simply cook your tofu without seasoning it, you are
making a mistake. The biggest sin is not pressing it properly but not seasoning
it properly, it’s a close second. This applies to marinating it too. Once you
press the water out if tofu, replace it by marinating it. This injects flavour
into it. Marinating for as little as half an hour can make a difference…overnight
is a complete game changer.

    Realistic expectations

I hear all the time that tofu tastes like this and that. The
fact is that tofu tastes…like tofu. Accept it. However, you can marinate it so
that it has an essence of chicken or fish. It will NEVER taste like it but it
can give you a subtle hint. I have known people to start enjoying tofu when
they stopped comparing it to other foods.
