On a personal level, I think it is ugly and not to my taste. It is\nnot for me\u2026but I totally see why people may be interested in it. It is large, a\ngreat capacity and it cooks really well\u2026fantastically well in fact. There is definitely\na market for it and the sales prove that. I don\u2019t think I can emphasize that enough\u2026it\u2019s big. It powered by 1300w which is on the more powerful side, especially when it comes to air fryers. The manufacturers also claim that is energy efficient. I\u2019m not quite sure how they come to this conclusion\u2026what are they looking at? Are they saying that to cook the same thing in another appliance, would require more energy? If so, then this claim cannot be unique to the Big Boss air fryer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a manually operated air fryer, no presets in sight.\nYou therefore need to know what temperature to cook at and for how long. That\u2019s\nnot so much of an issue, as the information is easily at hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of its more attractive features is the extension coil\nwhich increases the height and the oven capacity. This is especially useful if\nyou are cooking a large chicken\u2026or maybe a small turkey. The lid simply sits on\ntop of it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has a rather nice trick too. Since it is quite tall, you can place a rack inside it that gives you two shelves. A problem I have with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dutchovenscookware.com\/gowise-air-fryer-oven\/\">air fryers<\/a> generally, is the capacity. I\u2019m always told how efficient they are\u2026which is true but you can really only cook one food at a time. It has three\naspects to it which work in uniform to cook the contents. It is a combination\nof halogen heat, convection to circulate the air and infra red to cook the\nfood. It is designed to lock in the moisture leaving your food very succulent\nand tasty. Does this happen? Well you\u2019ll just have to wait and see below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can\u2019t escape the elephant in the room. It\u2019s ugly. Very\nugly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the concept of how this air fryer works, I suppose\nthere is little option but for it to look like some variation of this. I\u2019m not\nsure that this is something I would want sitting on my counter top full time.\nIf you do have the cupboard space, I can see this working. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having said all that, the Big Boss air fryer is clearly\ndesigned for functionality. It makes the most of what it is but does so in the\nmost efficient way possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Big Boss oil less fryer is fully manual which is\noperated via dials on the top. There are always question marks with this kind\nof design when it comes to the robustness of the design. I\u2019m never a fan of\nmoving parts\u2026more prone to failure in my opinion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another aspect of the design that must be considered is the\nsheer weight of it. It is heavy\u2026the glass is anyway. This means that cleaning\nit in the sink is a difficult task, which is quite frustrating. The set up is\ncan be described as modular, so it does break up for storage convenience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"build-quality-big-boss-16-qt-oil-less-air-fryer\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Build quality &#8211; Big Boss 16 qt oil-less air fryer<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I have to balance the price of the Big Boss air fryer when I\ntalk of the build quality. This is a relatively cheap item\u2026but expensive enough\nfor it to be a consideration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The build quality can be described as average at best. No\nbetter, no worse than that. The build is simple which does help matters but it\nis not something that will last you many years. There is plenty of plastic on\nthis unit which gives it that less than premium feel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since I cannot really give a longer-term view on it, I have\nlooked at the Amazon reviews to see what kind of issues are repeatedly coming\nup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There seems to be a failure rate in the units although I\nwould mitigate that by saying they sell a lot. customers are also more likely\nto leave a review for something negative which could help to explain this. I\nwould really suggest you read the reviews\u2026I will eave a link below here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another issue that seems to come is the printing around the\ndials. I know from my own experience that this will come off really easily.\nThis means that if you have not marked it in any way, you are essentially\nguessing the temperature and the time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which leads onto another issue. There is various feedback\nsuggesting that the temperature you set isn\u2019t accurate. This could lead to food\nundercooking or overcooking which is not great. Overtime, you will learn to\nadjust the temperature to compensate, but it really should be doing this out of\nthe box. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One aspect that you may want to delve further into is the\nwarranty. There is some feedback suggesting that the company charge you to send\nback failed units. I can\u2019t verify that but given the size and weight of the\nunit, it won\u2019t be cheap. I have always found Amazon to be great with returns so\nmaybe this issue extends to the timeframe outside Amazons return policy. Worth\nlooking into if you are considering buying it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A nice aspect is the accessories that they give you\u2026all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dutchovenscookware.com\/metal-steel-air-fryer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stainless steel<\/a>. This is great for those of you that don\u2019t trust non stick coatings. It also means that they are likely to last a long time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, I would say this is fine\u2026for the price but don\u2019t\nexpect this to last a lifetime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"cooking-big-boss-air-fryer-review\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cooking<\/strong>&#8211; Big Boss air fryer review<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Big Boss air fryer is does what any other air fryer\ndoes\u2026the difference being that it is big. Very big. It therefore means you can\ndo more in it\u2026in theory anyway. There are those that suggest you could do a\nturkey in there\u2026maybe\u2026a small one anyway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not going to take that risk. I will run a couple of\ncooking tests\u2026both involving chicken. Since I suspect people buy this to roast\na chicken or cook \u2018fried\u2019 chicken, those are the cooking tests I will run. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firstly, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dutchovenscookware.com\/roast-chicken-dutch-oven\/\">roast chicken<\/a>. I deliberately chose a larger to judge the capacity. This air fryer is as simple as it gets. Put the chicken on the rack, lower it into the glass bowl, shut the lid, set the temperature and time\u2026and away you go. Simple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have to say that I was quite impressed with the results.\nThe chicken had a lovely crisp to the skin, whilst the meat was moist and\nsucculent. I can totally see why some people swear by them. The result was\nunexpected for me, I was fully expecting an average result. The quality of the\ncooked chicken genuinely surprised me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving onto the chicken legs, I brushed on some egg wash and\ndipped them into some bread crumbs. I was expecting this to work quite well\ngiven the excellent performance on the whole chicken. I was right to be\nconfident. The Chicken legs came out beautifully. The outer surface had a\nlovely crunch to them. The inside was cooked beautifully and the chicken\nretained its moistness. If that is the case, its working since they sell well\u2026very well indeed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If cooking things like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dutchovenscookware.com\/frozen-chicken-strips-in-air-fryer\/\">fried chicken<\/a> or roast chicken, is your thing, I can totally see why you would be attracted to it. I suspect this is down to functionality. This is the emotion in cooking\u2026the feeling when you produce food.\nSince you cook most days, you want to feel good\u2026. content at least. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The word I would use to describe my feeling is \u2018surprised\u2019.\nThe end results were fantastic and it was a genuine surprise to me. Maybe that\nis down to my own preconceptions. A great aspect of having a glass bowl is that\nyou can see it cooking\u2026it\u2019s not often you can see things cook before your very\neyes. It\u2019s heavy and cumbersome, the lid is\nheavy too and you need separate space for that too.
