I accidentally\u00a0left my Le Creuset Dutch oven on a warmer where it burnt a large dark brown stain onto the base. It looks like a dark brown ring. It does not look attractive at all.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is this something that can be removed or is it damaged? Is it possible to get it looking new again? I\u2019m afraid to use it since it happened.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jayne<\/strong>: The good news Stephanie is that you can carrying on using it. Even if the stain cannot be removed, don\u2019t worry it is still fully functional. At the moment, the stain is acting like a patina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stains do not look attractive and of course you want to get rid of them. You have a few options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly, you could try steel wool, gently rubbing the stain to see if it removes it. You can also try a couple of products to help. Le Creuset<\/a> do their own cleaner that some people swear by, you can find it here. You may also want to try Bon Ami powder cleanser<\/a> with a scrubbing pad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If all these fail, you can try the baking soda option. Boil some water and reduce it to a simmer. Once it is simmering add a little baking soda, half a teaspoon at a time. It will bubble up at which point you use a silicone spatula to scrape it. This should help to remove the stain and repeat if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it is permanently baked onto the enamel in your Dutch oven, it\u2019s something you will have to live with. Like I said, it will not affect the performance. If anything, it adds character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
